there will always be those who refuse to believe there is a problem called climate change. They even had to change the name from global warming because there are naysayers who refuse to do any research and took the term literally. It was mindboggling to hear people say, "it's not hot here, it is cooler than it has been." I do believe we are heading for a change that we are not ready for. From freezing to hot drought. {#emotions_dlg.sad}

Had to change the name? C'mon now the PC just wanted to separate this thing some believe from Mr. Gore.

I don't refuse to think the climate changes, especially here in our State in the Midwest. We get all 4 seasons here. They can call it whatever they want and quote as many experts as they want, but me?

You go ahead and get ready, whatever that means. If I do anything it will be to build a bomb shelter. Chances of me using it are better than worrying about "this change I am not ready for".

More interested in the temperatures on the Moon and Mars, just in case. Ya never know!

It's been unusually warm in the Pacific Northwest (90+ degrees in Seattle today) and I'll be very glad for cooler and, yes, wetter weather this fall. Still have to get through September, though.

Anyone who knows anything about this issue and does not follow only one type of source for news knows that Gore was only the first big name to bring the issue to awareness.

He has nothing to do with it now in reality, except to those who don't understand the science involved and don't want to know it.

yes, gazelle. the earth will still be here. the big question is will it be habitable by man or animal. that's the part of the equation you've forgotten and that's the part of the equation that is directly influenced by man.

I believe you are wrong.

that's fine.You're entitled to your opinion.

I do know that 99% of the scientific community sees it the way I've described and that's good enough for me.

Do you have any data to support your view?

There is supposedly one petition in her favor, not many on it, not like the thousands of scientists.

Some say the short petition is signed by scientists, also. Names like Darth Vader and the like pepper the document.

Mr. Gore made his millions of $$$ on it. Now he is probably trying to think up something similar to make maybe a billion on it. Some used to tell me that the sky was going to fall and I believed them. Of course I was only 5 years old then and I think it was my older sisters.

I've heard many debates by those that are suppose to be "in the know" and it is just like discussing politics/religion or birth control. Some will never change what they think is the right side of the discussion regardless of proof, or lack of it.

We happen to be on different sides on this one. I agree to disagree and will leave it there.

Oh, noooooooooooooooooooo! I love sunshine and warmth. Cool I remember crazy childhood Midwest winters in the 60s. Lots of snow. Things calmed down a bit since then. And then there was last year. I also remember horrific ice storms in the 1990s and early 2000s. We've had a break from those. We'll survive.
