i just hope the El Nino develops and creates more precipitation - especially here in SoCal.

I hope so too, mstraditional.

We've had a good monsoon this year in AZ after a very dry winter. Our temps have been on the lower side with fewer 110+ plus days than in past years. Hoping El Nino creates some rain for So Cal!

Well I see by the map that ILikeShade posted that wildfires are in my future! After a lot of thought, I decided to move to the Medford/Ashland, Or region. At least the drought and heat won't be my bane of existence and I'm going to enjoy having a real winter. This last year in LA has been really warm, which I don't mind but the air quality has been terrible for my taste, and I've lived there all of my life until now.

It's a beautiful area if you don't mind some snow.

And when the OP talks about "the North"... it seems she's only talking about the "Northeast". There are other northern areas of this country...the Northwest, and the Northern Central states.

Thanks for the map, IlikeShade...it might be handy to some people who aren't aware that there are states west of the Mississippi.

Oh for heaven's sake, let go of the grudge would ya!!!

The majority of the northern states, according to that map that IlikeShade posted showed colder.

Her post peaked some interest and sent others looking for more info, so why villainize her? Most people post regarding what will specifically affect them.

{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}Looking forward to it..... Hate the summer!{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Summer isn't my favorite, that's for sure (except for the pool part).

I'm one of the strange folks who actually like snow and cold, so I say bring it on!

Tansy, I like the snow and look forward to it. My brother and his wife worry I'll fall and hurt myself in the ice (I have MS and at times, I'm shaky) but I'll take my chances and be careful. My friend lives in the Yreka area and I've visited her when the snow was high so it will be a new adventure.

I will. My friend has those and I tried them, they work pretty good but do take a few minutes to get used to. I'm even thinking of buying a snowmobile later on! Or cross country skis. I bought a place with 5 acres that back up to BLM land so it might be fun to explore on cross country skis in winter. I've even traded my little car for a F150 truck. My dogs already love the truck!
