PNC BANK WILL NOT CASH COMMERCIAL CHECKS DRAWN ON THEM!!!!!!!

Today I took a consignment check to PNC bank because it was THEIR check they were closer to me and I don't try to add activity to my account.

The teller told me because I didn't have an account there it would be a $10.00 charge!!!!!!!

I HAD TO GO IN to get my driver's license and the check back although they had NO other customers!!!!!!!!!! I may change this new consignment shop I am going to!

Why change consignment shops? It's not their fault. Why punish them? Use your own bank. OR try another bank that my honor the check.

@ECBG....It is not the fault of the consignment store..it is the bank...locally banks will not cash a check if you do not have an account with them.

It is irritating but I guess there must be a reasonable reason.

I've never heard of this bank, so I'm wondering if they might be a small, regional bank. Often, the smaller banks have more rules like that because they don't have as much behind them for protection against the possibility of fraud.

$10 is a lot. US Bank charges $5.

@Mom2DogsI understand what you are saying butwhen you open an account you are told how they operate.

I can't believe this creates an atmosphere that will get them new personal accounts either.
