Every time I look at him I think why did this have to happen. I am alone and have no one who cares. Sad situation. I am not hungry and slept on my couch until 4:30 AM--got up and went to bed. Got up at 6:30 am took Buddy for a walk. I have nine pills that I have to give him. It is a struggle to get them down his throat. I went to Just Food for Dogs and bought him more food. The lady gave me samples of some other food to try. The place was busy in Newport Beach. I live near a very affluent community.
I'm really sorry for what you're going through. Buy some honey butter, and put the pills in it. I do that twice a day with five pills for my dog. Then I just put them on a saucer. When it's time for his pills, my dog comes to get me. He loves the honey butter. I buy Land O'Lakes honey butter in a tub. Be careful with trying too many different foods. He could end up with diarrhea.
Just For Food for Dogs is a food that humans could consume. It has not given him diarrhea. He loves it. I wish I had known about this food many years ago, I would not have bought any of that store bought dog food. I think we need to be educated what is in the dog food we buy. The person that developed this food is a Veterinarian who is a Professor in Clinical Nutrition. He has a golden retriever that is named Rey who has been on JFDfor years. He is 17 years old. He is a beautiful dog. They make all recipes exclusively with ingredients certified by the USDA for human consumption---the exact same whole food we humans eat. Check out their website. It is not inexpensive but compared to vet bills---it is relativity inexpensive. Please remember, dry kibble and canned food no matter how premium the price likely contains powerful preservatives, fillers and ingredients that are not certified by the USDA. I sure have learned my lesson about dog food. Thank you for all your kind words.
I didn't understand that it was the same food that she was giving you samples of. I thought it was different kinds of foods--a variety. I'm glad you've found an excellent food. I, too, believe that's important. You really should try the honey butter for the pills though. I think your struggle with getting him to take his pills would be over. That would be one less stress for you. You just need to use a very tiny amount of the honey butter.

Hemangiosarcoma.

I found a way to give Buddy his pills. I wrap them in sliced lunchmeat that is 100% natural. He takes them immediately. That is one less stress for me and Buddy.

Am so glad, elated! Over the years when our dear dogs were needing to take meds, we had to find a way to get them to take it and each of them were different. It can be so hard--hope both you and Buddy are hanging in there!

I have 9 cats and 1 dog, so I hope you can see I love animals.
I am sorry for you and your beloved Buddy.
At this time, the LAST thing I would worry about is whether something is all natural or not. I would give him ANYthing he likes to eat.
I was going to suggest liver sausage for putting his pills in, as I have yet to encounter a dog who doesn't like it!
Soft cheese or hamburger would be great too.
One of my kitties is in kidney failure now, and have been through this, heart disease, and cancer with my kitties. It is so hard to see them sick.
I recently got a kitten, I know, I'm nuts. My cat in kidney failure LOVES the kitten food, even though it is not good for her kidneys. She has steadily lost weight. So, I give her an appetite stimulant, fluids, and let her have the darn kitten food if that is what she will eat.
Wishing you and Buddy the best.

I went to the cardiologist on Saturday and they said he is doing great. They could not even see the tumor on his heart and he had no fluid around his heart. He has had some diarrhea but I think that is due to the change of food from Just food for Dogs. I switched him back to his regular food and he is eating. He is such a great dog.
