Re: PEDICURES........ SAFE OR NOT ?

For me - it's a pleasure because at the age of 74 now, it's hard for me to do my own. I like how they cut the nails for me so nice - it's hard for me to do that. Then the massaging my legs up to the knees was so good! I had told him that I was getting cramps, and he worked on me so good and it felt so good!! It was worth getting the Deluxe treatment with the wine! They serve white and red wines, and a refill too!!

Re: PEDICURES........ SAFE OR NOT ?

I usually do my own pedis. One night a while ago I treated myself to a pedi and the tech used the razor blade tool on my heels (not aware this is outlawed in my state). When I got home there was a show about bad nail salons on 20/20. All sorts of nasty bugs you cannot see at those places and they do not get inspected as much as we think they do. #1 never have a pedi in the jetted tubs. #2 the worst tool for them to use: razor blade tool. Bring your own nail tools and have the nail tech to your pedi in a bowl.

I got a toenail fungus from a pedicure. I'll never be totally free of it and will never ever again get another salon pedi.I have my toenails cared for at the podiatrist now.

I get pedicures all year long, usually once a month. I've never ever had a problem.

Re: PEDICURES........ SAFE OR NOT ?

Ever since the news carried several horror stories about pedi's and mani's, I stopped going. I do my own pedi and actually don't mind that. I don't bother with a mani because the polish would probably chip off pretty quickly when working around my horse.

Hi biancardi, I had a pedicure last week and I got the brightest orange that I could find. I like very bright colors on my toe nails. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

me too!! I like to bring my own nailpolish so that I can do touch ups in between pedis.

I have a bright coral jelly that I am leaning towards for this weekend Smiley Happy

Re: PEDICURES........ SAFE OR NOT ?

I'm a rebel!{#emotions_dlg.w00t} I've always done my own manis and pedis.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Working in hospitals, and knowing details from the folks who treat patients harmed by the problems and hazards in salons, I'd never be tempted to go there.

The damage may be with you for life, and it only takes one slip-up to cause trouble.

I'm glad news stories are putting them in the spotlight.

(O/T, Hi, biancardi! I strongly agree with your other thread and support your suggestion to the developers.)
