I am trying to get a copy of my birth certificate from PA to get my license transferred from TN. Even though since I have done this 3 times in different states since 9/11 using my original certificate Florida wants a raised stamped certificate. I tried doing this online and the price is 100 dollars and a three month processing time. Has anyone had similar experiences?

in maryland i have a service center where i can do it in person and receive them on the same day. it is only maybe a 30 minute drive.

if i want to do it online they are $10 each and take 6-8 weeks go receive them. there is a processing fee of $11.25 and an express fee of $18 added on if you need it rushed. it is done through vitalchek.com.

I just looked online, it's only $20, are you ordering 5 copies?

When we were moving to Fl. from Pa. went to the state office building in Pittsburgh with the certificate they give you when your born & our drivers licenses - filled out a few papers and paid I believe $20 for both of us. I got the birth certificates in a few days in the mail.

Florida is very very particular about you being able to prove you are who you say. If , like me , you have been married more than once, you have to bring all your supporting paperwork. I had my birth certificate, 1st marriage certificate, first husband's death certificate, second marriage certificate and my USA passport just for good measure.They had to verify it all - we were there for a very long time, then in the end they decided my passport was enough.

Thank you all I am going to go back on and recheck. I did this all in TN about 1 1/2 years ago. Florida is one hard state but I can do this. Now to find the agency here and it will be a long day. Wish me luck LOL.

yes I had all kinds of trouble, even being born in PA. My Son and I had to drive real far to get a new one. This has been  about 4 years back so it's kind of foggy to me, but I remember it was an all day thing. To say I was ticked is putting it lightly, and yes I had to pay I think $100.00. That birth certificate had got me thru 79 years of my life. Who refused it was WV driver recertification. And I had driven since learning in highschool at 16. If you would see the license I had, it has everything the new one has, my parents name the Dr who delivered me. All this political correctness, is just plan nonsence. Good luck, and you will lose your cool before it's all over,

@Elom

It shouldn’t cost more than $10 or $20. You are probably using a website other than the official state website. I found this phone #telSmiley Sad724) 656-3100 which you could call for information.

@Tribesters@ElomThe official governemnt website routes you to vitalcheck if you want to get the birth certificate on line. With the shipping fee-  and the wait time especially, I decided I'll stop in the NYC office next time I'm in Manhattan.
