Re: Outpricing the average customer

Whatever.  Times change.  The retail environment has changed.  Prices escalate.  They always have, they always will.   Who the heck is the average customer?   Why assume that if you think prices are high, every customer must feel the same way?   There are a lot of women who have a whole lot of money and they don't think anything on QVC is expensive. Those are the customers QVC wants and needs.  Which isn't me.  Now that I'm retired and live a casual life, I shop for my lifestyle.  I buy the pieces I know I'm going to get a lot of wear out of and that I can wear for several years .  I a price is too high for me, I'm perfectly ok with that.  It's just clothes.  Sometimes I do go online and look for a similar item that is less expensive.

Adjust.  Buy less.  Buy quality to last.

I do feel for families that have kids to clothe.

I'm finding that with other retailers I've bought from for years.  The sale prices they quote now (sometimes as much as 50%) are what their full prices used to be.

Re: Outpricing the average customer

For me, it is quality/value for my money and Q doesn't have it.
Having a "limited budget" can mean many different limitations. My "limit" is to not spend more than what an item is worth. Frankly, there is nothing out there that I just cannot live without, from any source. Nor do I have to have one in every color just because I like something.

I gave up on QVC clothes a LONGG time ago.

Main reasons, VERY, OBVIOUSLY to the naked eye, cheaply made.
-   On Velour items, the nap went UP, in the WRONG direction, vs DOWN where it's supposed to go.

-   On Plaids, the plaids didnt match at the seams, looks sooo obviously unclassy.

Stan Herman thick, soft Lounge Sets were the last of my purchases there, that I remember.

Instead, I buy from OneStopPlus.  In fact, a week ago, I just placed an order for a total of $300 (During one of their frequent 50% off, of all instock items).

Soft Better Fleece separates, matching colors.  Incl a cute pretty matching lavender set, & cute pretty light pink set, that I've been hankering since the Barbie movie!   Both,  finally in stock.  Separates are perfect for me, since Im built like an Ice Cream cone, (meaning, "bawangas" up top, much smaller bottom).

OneStopPlus is related to other companies, that seem to have same sales, but I find OneStopPlus to have the best selection of all of them.

Besides, only OneStopPlus have a deal where for ?$16/yr, ALL future shipments are no more than $3 S&H, for the rest of that year.  (Only seems true for OneStopPlus, not their other related companies).

Sizes down to Small, Medium incl many in Petites.  Never been unsatisfied.

And nothing beats their "Sherpa Sweatshirt"  I swear it gets softer & softer each washing/drying.  And far more colors now then when I first started buying these.

Now is a great time to watch for great prices on their Swimwear.

Re: Outpricing the average customer

I could live with the prices if the quality is good.  But almost all the lines now are poly and rayon.  QVC used to offer a lot of cotton.

I will buy some poly and rayon, but most of what is offered (Belle) can be found for less elsewhere.

Tired of stretch pants, which seems to be shown all the time.  I wouldn't mind seeing more woven cotton/rayon and maybe even a small % poly in pants.  Don't want thick heavy poly pants.

I have been a QVC shopper for over 30 years.  Things have changed over the years but lately it seems clothing is outpricing the average customer.

I understand prices in the world are crazy but it seems the designers on QVC are banding together and pricing their lines along the same scale.  I saw a couple of shirts on air but the price was more than I wanted to spead.  I went to a good department store and bought shirts almost idential for less money.

Don't get me wrong, I really like QVC but will be more selective.

First ....  Welcome!

Secondly, what exactly is an "average" consumer?

Third, It's just not the finished product where price increases show, it's at every step along the way.

Example:  A while back the costs for growing cotton escalated.  So did wages for workers.  So did the processing of the cotton that was harvested.

Then the factories had to increase worker's' wages and machinery isn't cheap if it needs to be replaced.

Then we get to the actual manufacturing of garments.  Not all factories could accomodate an Isaac Mizrahi order, so perhaps IM has to use several factories all around the word.

Then, there's shipping, which is usually the cheapest part, believe it or not.

Anyway, my point is QVC has great prices when compared to Bergdorf Goodman or Neiman Marcus.

It's always best to shop around.   QVC isn't the only game in town.

Who shops Bergdorf Goodman or Neiman Marcus for the "average customer"!!  Some comparisons would be Kohl's, Macy's , JJill, Banana Republic and Dillards.

Re: Outpricing the average customer

@elated

I deliberately exaggerated to make my point.

While we all may shop at a variety of retailers, I thought comparing QVC to more upscale possibilities puts it somewhere in the actual middle range.    Not the cheapest, and certainly not the most expensive.
