@haddon9 , I too live near Flemington, NJ.  I was there a few months ago and it was empty.  Stores come and go....mostly go....it's such a pretty location but for years, they just can't get the outlets and stores going.

@Carol Diane   If you like tea, I went to Teaberry's for the first time last week in Flemington ... the food is great, they have over 100 teas to choose from and it's in a renovated Victorian house.  I plan on going back soon!

Re: Outlet Visit

[ Edited ]

I go to the Frazer outlet once or twice a season.  I agree that the jewelry area is sad, what is left of it. I do not even look at the prices.

As for the rest of the outlet, you must have an open mind and be willing to spend the time digging. I am lucky if I find one clothing item or pair of shoes. I was more successful finding swimsuits and lingerie for great prices. I see women buying tons of Temp-tations. Not for me, and it's too heavy. Other housewares can be great finds but many are one of a kind items.

Back in the day I got my first Keurig, a 5 qt. KA stand mixer and Florentine leather Dooneys, among other things. Now I probably spend more on gas & tolls getting there & back than I do on purchases.

I also used to love going to the outlets in Flemington & Secaucus.

I used to stop at the Frazer outlet whenever we visited family in the Philly suburbs. Granted, it’s a true outlet (not one of the ones that only sell “special” merchandise made for the outlet), so some trips were more successful than others. Nowadays, I don’t even bother stopping there. The last time I was there, it was so messy with merchandise dropped on the floor and sloppily tossed on tables that I decided it wasn’t worth it anymore. It’s a shame, because I got some great buys there, but not anymore.

@queendiva. I agree, sad jewelry counter. They always have so much Temptations makes you wonder why. You are right, it is too heavy without food, cannot imagine with food.

@Shelbelle  Very much so. Again, lots of Temptations as always.

I used to visit the outlet center in Reading, PA and the one in Flemington.  Reading was awesome but I understand that it is closed?? or at least not what it once was.  Haven't been there in decades.

I will assume the reason for the closing of so many outlets is because of online shopping and the b&m stores themselves having so many "deals" that "outlets" are no longer necessary.

@kaydee50  Yes, Reading has been closed for several years now. I too believe it is the online shopping has been a factor.

I got so many great things and great deals at the Malvern outlet and the studio store back in the day.

All but one of my Tiffany style lamps are from the Outlet for like $20 each, the other was a TSV.

I got some great deals on Basso coats there as well.

My favorite thing about the studio store was you could buy one of something if it was selling on air as a set of 6.
