My heart ached for Claire as she sat at the table with Black Jack. Missing her husband and seeing this monster of a man (I know same man playing both characters) looking just like him. Then the horrible things he described and then to beat her. Poor, poor Claire. On the up side she is now married to Jamie the virgin!

It's like you spoke my mind for me, nicnacsmommy! Terrible to think, but how could it not destroy Claire's love for Frank ... with sadistic Blackjack there---the very imagine of him? Feeling badly for Frank in all this, but must confess; I love Jamie and Claire together. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

To Rowan72 - Frank did not travel back in time. The person Claire meets is Frank's gr-gr-gr-grandfather (I don't know how many greats), who Frank strongly resembles (and is played by the same actor). In the scenes when Frank is discussing his family genealogy, he talks about his ancestor "Black Jack".

Thank you, Luma2 -- that had been bugging me, too, since wow, is Frank ever different from "Blackjack"!! Great acting, I must say.

For those interested you can download the theme song from iTunes. I hope they release a soundtrack available on CD.

Many thanks for explaining, Luma2! Now it all makes perfect sense. I am so captivated, and everyone says the books are so much better written, I am going to start reading them. Hope they are available for the Kindle. I'll try to hold back enough to not spoil the rest of season 1 of the series. No promises after that!

Oh, WaJa - the soundtrack would make for great driving music along my work commute. So soothing! Ethereal.

Rpwan72, yes, the books are available on Kindle, and I believe they even have a boxed set of 1-7. Personally, I like having the trade paperbacks, which are nice and oversized, for my library, but I did order one of the books on Kindle because I couldn't wait for the next installment to come in the mail! That's how good I think they are.

I think that Jamie Fraser is one of the best male characters in literature ever, and not just because of his obvious physical attributes. He's such a wonderful human being, and I think Sam Heughan portrays him brilliantly, even though my own image of Jamie had been different. Sam has been able to portray both Jamie's strengths and vulnerabilities.

I'll be wearing some nice pajamas to the wedding tonight!!

I am 2 episodes behind, but I agree teathyme. Jamie is brave, yet modest. I love his humility and compassion - and his sense of humor, too! Claire takes herself too seriously sometimes and he can show her without being crass, or a brute. Clearly Jamie is ahead of his time, so to speak, though he didn't time travel like Claire. They offset and compliment each other well as a couple.

I enjoy the whole cast - very believable acting. The actor portraying Colum MacKenzie - WOW! Those steely eyes and his leg deformity seems so realistic, both in appearance and his attitude. He and his brother, Dougal feel especially authentic in their roles.

I'm glad that the cast is mostly all new to me and they are actually filming it in Scotland. Very refreshing!

It's getting great ratings and I'm excited that it's been renewed for its second season so soon!
