We have a covered back porch. I love the look of outdoor curtains, but besides being costly, I'm afraid they would discolor pretty fast. (I am speaking about white curtains.) Just wondering if you or anyone you know has these on their porch. I don't know whether to go with Sunbrella (costly) or if I should just invest in something cheaper with the understanding that they will probably not look great after a season or two. Thoughts? Do the outdoor porch curtains and they will look good for a couple of seasons.

Are these like mosquito curtains?

I have them at our house and they were very easy to install (our contractor did it)-- made in the USA too. We love them. The company even took them back to add metal grommets to the bottom of the curtains so we could attach them on our porch/deck with hooks on the deck. In times of windy weather--they do not blow inward but remain in place anchored at the bottom with the grommets/hooks.

ETA: we went with the black/gray version.

I wouldn't dare have them at my house due to the dirt and dust in the air and super strong winds that would tear them apart. I do have the roll-up shade shown in the Improvements Catalog and it has worked out very well. I have it rigged so the wind can't blow Ito pieces.

I also have the roll-up shades (bamboo like) in front of the slider leading out to the patio.

I roll them up in the winter and down in the summer months. Keeps the house cooler.

The Sunbrella fabric holds up great. We have it on our boat and we are on our 9th season with the original canvas and it takes a beating with sun, rain, and winds. I also have a 14ft round sunbrella umbrella on our deck and it doesn't fade at all.

If you are going to put curtains up and you want them to last, get sunbrella.

Thanks for your comments. I should invest in Sunbrella. I think to look best, I need several panels which will be a lot of $$$. Since I want solid white, I may get a couple or so this year, then add more next year. Thanks again! Demitra

Demitra, one thing I wanted to add about sunbrella is that they wash beautifully! We have sunbrella carpet covers on the boat, they are huge pieces that snap to the floor over the carpet (kind of odd, but that's what they do on boats), the kids have spilled on them, we walk on them with shoes and they really take a beating. A few times a boating season, I unsnap them and throw them into the washing machine, but I always air dry them and they come out perfect and not wrinkled. I use 3M fabric protector spray on them and it repels dirt an water.

Just a FYI for you{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}
