We, DD and I, are replacing out deck (over the garage of our townhome) b/c it's rotten and dangerous. Had the contractor lined up and ready to go when we found the nest. Thought it through carefully and decided we could cover the nest from above while the rest of the deck was replaced and at the last minute, replace the boards over the nest. Contacted an ornithologist at Auburn University, Alabama, and he said this could work with no problems. I'm still nervous...but we have to do it now b/c we are in a hummingbird flight path and we have hundreds showing up later in the summer. Has anyone had a similar problem? What was your solution? Tossing the nest is not an option. K
