Long ago, before planes that did really long hauls, we were sent to Jakarta from the west coast.  So every year we did this round trip thru the date line with toddlers.  

 

At that time flights did stops in Hawaii, Hong Kong or Manila, Singapore, then home to Indonesia.  This is a really big ocean.  Makes the Atlantic look like a lake.

 

Sometimes we arrived before we left!  Talk about time changes.

@Still Raining Your travels sound fascinating. Knowing that the Pacific is immense is one thing. Seeing this view makes it more understandable, but flying over it with toddlers must really make it a part of you.
