Apparently you have to be a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences and Joan wasn't. It's by invitation only.

I don't know about Joan (or the criteria for being listed on the Oscar In Memoriam) but Philip Seymour Hoffman and Shirley Temple Black were both listed last year as they passed before the ceremony in 2014.

Shirley Temple and Phillip Seymour Hoffman died last year and were included in last year's tribute.

I see that Louis Jourdan was added to this year's tribute after a few days from his death.

What movies was Joan in? There was her documentary and some TV movies. I'm not sure why she would have been included.

C'mon !!! ..... Joan wasn't a film actress, nor a member of the fil academy .... and I've never seen a TV fashion interviewer listed in the tributes .... she really didn't qualify. ${#emotions_dlg.unsure}$
