What movies was Joan in? There was her documentary and some TV movies. I'm not sure why she would have been included.

She wrote and I believe produced Rabbit Test with Billy Crystal. They also left out stage legend Elaine Stritch.

I think Shirley Temple was mentioned at last years Oscar Memorials. As for Joan Rivers my guess is that they were honoring those that contributed to the motion picture industry. I am not sure Joan had much to do with movies or ever stared in one. She was more a TV celebrity. Correct me if I am wrong about that. Did she ever make a movie?

She directed it too!

Variety said that Joan was included in the Academy's website of departed members...just not the TV version.

I wonder why...

Wow. I didn't realize Polly Bergan wasn't mentioned. She was in the movie ""Cape Fear"" as I recall. Good actress.

Yeah it was last year. I can tell you this people on facebook are complaining galore that they didn't have Joan Rivers in that remembrance tribute.

IMO they should've mentioned her.

Apparently you have to be a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences and Joan wasn't. It's by invitation only.

Oh la di da - an invitation. Well I wasn't her biggest fan but she certainly deserved a mention.

Shirley Temple was mentioned in the 2014 Oscars.

LOTS of people seem to be missing the point that you have to QUALIFY (on an ongoing basis) to continue your membership with the Screen ACTORS Guild .... and the unions don't play around with people who don't qualify! {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Since Joan's primary career focus was not a film actress, she might have let her membership lapse and joined the Directors Guild, the Writers Guild, Producers Guild or Women In Film ..... etc. There are a lot of organizations relating to the film industry

Who here knows her actual professional organization memberships .... anyone ?? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

I still can't get over them leaving Farrah Fawcett out of the tribute when she died. She was a 70's icon !

Not only that, but because she died on the same day as Michael Jackson, all the attention went to that drug addicted pedophile, and her life and contributions were ignored .... NOT cool ! {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}
