I watched the trial again early this morning on CNN. I knew they were not getting along but they pulled up his last text message from her and went over it with him. They had been to a party the night before and he accused her of flirting with another man. It was also pointed out he never told her he loved her through the whole relationship.
She really let him have it about how he lost his temper and treated her. He said he didn't like texting and preferred to discuss it in person. The big thing they were going after was it was always about him. I have to go to work, I have to do this, I am busy. It was never about her.
She should have broken up with him a long time ago. He is so whiney and tearful on the stand. He never met her family and he never apologized to them after her death. He kept saying they wouldn't want to hear from him. He has an excuse for everything.

This is very interesting. I wonder if they were arguing and she got out of bed and ran to the bathroom and he chased her and fired. A fit of rage as RainCity Girl stated above. Did I hear correctly that he has a new girlfriend?

He could easily have lost his temper to the point that when she didn't come out, he got the gun and shot through the door, either totally irrational or he wanted to scare her, but not kill her. Many people in a fit of rage do something that they would never think of doing in a calmer state. I find it hard to believe that they were sleeping together and he didn't notice she was not in the bed when he got up, grabbed the gun, and headed toward the bathroom. That's just not logical. He is in damage mode right now, and as he said is "fighting for his life." Whether the judge buys his story with its myriad of holes, remains to be seen.
I've been able to catch some of this on the news lately. I agree with your points here.
I think he was in a rage and did it and is now very sorry he did but is sorry mostly because it means prison for him if he is convicted.

They reported the neighbors that heard screaming live further down the street. The neighbors that live closer to his house didn't hear anything.
I think he would do anything to save his hide. He could have called the police and kept an eye on the bathroom hallway. The exploding pumpkin shooting video will hurt his case too.
I can't imagine he would get off but you never know.

One thought that also occurred to me this evening. I know that crime/break-ins are somewhat prevalent in parts of Africa. However, suppose that it was a break-in and it was only a kid. He'd have willing shot the kid to death rather than find out what he was really dealing with? Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. IMHO.
This happens all the time in this country. People have shot and killed their own kids accidently mistaking them for a burglar. We have a shoot first, ask questions later attitude here. Why is it so hard to believe that Pistorius, having heard a noise, jumped up, grabbed his gun and shot?
How many burglars lock themselves in a bathroom??? Would you assume someone broke into your house to use the toilet??? Its an outlandish story.
No, but I'm not a hot head with a gun. I find it amusing that many are talking about why Pistorius didn't find out who was in the bath first, why he didn't wait to shoot, etc. etc while at the same time we have example after example of the same thing in this country and those shooters are just "protecting themselves".
Sweeping generalization. Cite a few specific examples and posters can comment.

I don't find him believable. Besides, I don't care if he meant to kill her or not, he had no business shooting a gun into that bathroom. A short temper + a gun = disaster. It was bound to happen with him sooner or later, if one looks at his history.
He is not going to get off--no one disputes that he killed her. The question is what he will be convicted of, manslaughter (Culpable Homicide in South African law) or murder.

I hope you're right, but I'm still nervous. If he wasn't South Africa's #1 hero, then I would easily agree with you. I'm just not convinced that his hero status won't help to either get him off or get him a reduced sentence.

If there were a jury, I might agree. This judge is known to be tough. I think he's going to spend a long time in jail.

Hard to say. Didn't he know she wasn't in bed?
A question--I don't know much about him; how did he lose his legs? Birth or accident?
