2 were his and 2 were his girlfriend's.  Sounds like he wounded an officer too.

Some people are just plain mean.  It brings them a feeling of some type of achievement, I guess.

The big question is are those people mentally ill?  Or just plain mean. 

It's probably the main question of the past centuries, for the past thousands of years.

I also think it's a question of going backward, evolution-wise.  Some people become more and more savage, uncivilized, perhaps wild animal-istic.

Well, I guess future generations hundreds and thousands of years from onw will be pondering why mean people do what they do.
