I just ordered an Amazon Echo and would like to connect my Sirius XM to it.  For those of you who have both, do you listen to music through Sirius XM or just ask Alexa to play a certain kind of music for you?  It may be just as easy to ask her to play music.

@NickNack

i listen to my sirius/xm though my echo and dot devices. i just prefer that generally.

if you want to ask alexa to play say "70s disco music" then it can play that through your amazon account and you can tell it to "skip" or "play next song" if you dont like the particular song it is playing.

@sunshine45   That's great that you can ask it to skip a song.  I hope it comes with detailed instructions and you don't just have to discover everything it can do on your own.

@sunshine45   p.s.  You can ask Alexa to play music even if you don't subscribe to Amazon music, can't you?  I have Prime but don't subscribe to Music.

Thanks @sunshine45 .  I'm anxious to get it.  It won't be in stock until next Friday though.

I don't have sirius radio on my echo but when you get your echo set up go to skills and the reviews for the sirius app have a lot of 5 stars

You don't have to subscribe to Amazon music to listen to music.

There are some songs you can only hear if you subscribe. (Like "I'll Follow the Sun" and (Slow Dancing) Swaying To The Music)

I subscribe only on my Show. I hear everything on it & see lyrics on a lot of the songs.

I say  Alexa....  "...play music"  "...70s"  "70s Motown" "Amazon Christmas (or holiday) music"  "Amy Winehouse"

Say Alexa "Thumbs UP" and it makes it a Favorite  then you can say  "Play My Favorites"

or Thumbs Down when you really don't like something

or Skip

sometimes when I say play music it will say "Here's a station you may like .....70s soul  (or something else)

Every day I say  Alexa Good Morning and get some little fact of the day or sometimes something silly.

I ask for the weather in my town, the time a store or restaurant opens, set timers, set reminders.  It doesn't always know times or stores in my area.

Mine isn't linked to my phone, but my Mom and sister are linked to their phones and they can call each other on it.  (I bought the Show to video call my son when they all move to Dallas)

DH likes to say inappropriate stuff to Alexa to see what it says. LOL
