There's also a discussion of the Echo going on over in the Home section with some interesting contributions. https://community.qvc.com/t5/Home/Any-Echo-Dot-fans/td-p/5897357/jump-to/first-unread-message

@NickNack  .... I subscribe to Amazon music only because the songs I was interested in hearing Alexa could not play without the subscription. My number one enjoyment is having my books read to me when I just feel like closing my eyes and leaning back in the recliner.

Here are the instructions for playing Xm on alexa. It's very easy. And if you want to listen to a specific channel just say Alexa play Sirius Xm 70s on 7 or whatever channel and you're all set.

To start listening with Amazon Alexa:

  1. From within the Amazon Alexa app, select Skills from the menu.
  2. Search for and enable the SiriusXM Skill from the Music & Audio category.
  3. Select Link Account and enter your SiriusXM streaming username and password

I sort of hated paying for Xm and being stuck with it only in the car. Having the app helped a little but still a pain to have to drag my tablet around. Alexa has made the subscription to Xm worth it.

You can also listen to regular radio and from anywhere which is cool.

If you have multiple Echoes and/ior dots you can create a whole-house audio system to play your music or read your audio books.

@Marp  and anyone else that listens to audio books, do you have to subscribe to the Audible app to listen to audio books?  I Googled it, and it doesn't sound like you have to subscribe but wasn't sure.  Can you read the book yourself on your Kindle and then have Alexa pick it up where you left off and read it to you?  I wouldn't necessarily want to have the entire book read to me.

@NickNack,  I can't answer your questions as I do not use audio books.  I tried at one time and found myself being lulled to sleep as the book read on lol.

I can play my audible books on echo.   I can't listen to the library app Libby to play audio library books.  and I have a few audio books and can't play them either on echo.

Echo will read aloud your kindle books and library kindle books with pretty good text to speech.

Thank you @lovescats .  Will Echo pick up where you left off in the book and then let you go back to reading it yourself?  Does Echo have to read the entire book to you?

yes it will give you the option to read it where you left off with echo or where you left off reading on kindle  and when you read on kindle it pops up with something like you stopped reading here but do you want to go to location such and such / where echo stopped reading  it is simpler than it sounds    plus you can put a sleep timer on echo to have it stop reading
