I agree with Wendy Williams today - I think Oprah was NOT the right person to represent WW. Wendy said, Oprah doesn't have a great record on losing weight, and even though Oprah says she has lost 26 pounds - you can't tell she's lost anything. I agree with Wendy and think Jennifer Hudson represented the WW line much better.

Did that many people quit?
It is ridiculous that WW hires wealthy celebrities to hawk their diet when celebs don't count a point, cook or work out unless under the direction of a super trainer..
They need to hire some smart tech people and be honest about the diet they are having you move towards.
WW app is faulty, the sight clumsy and the points have kept changing for the last 3 months.

No offense but it doesn't really matter what Wendy Williams thinks. LOL
I don't know that it has anything to do with the fact that you can't tell Oprah lost 26 pounds or with the fact that Oprah has touted many, many weightloss programs before, they are always the best, she always becomes an authority on weightloss and healthy eating, and she ends up putting the weight back on and she's on to something else.
I don't really care about Oprah's weightloss nor did I care about Jessica Simpson's, Jennifer Hudson's or Jenny McCarthy's. I want a program that works for me. It was never my understanding that Oprah was going to be the new face of WW. I did not know she was the latest celebrity face of the program.
WW has been losing money for awhile. Maybe the reason WW is still losing money has nothing to do with the spokesperson but rather the program?

I think WW has been hurting because of all the free fitness/diet tracking apps out there. Why would you pay for WW when you can use a free app like MyFitnessPal to track your calorie intake? A point system seems much more complicated that just counting calories. I guess WW does have a support group, which some may find helpful.

Doesn't Oprah own WW? She could have anybody be the spokesperson--preferably someone who isn't overweight. She herself could just stay in the background like other company owners.

Is this thread about WW's struggles to stay relevant, or reveling in another person's seeming failure in the business?

WW doesn't subscribe to the fact that all calories are equal. Calories from a candy bar are not the same as calories from say fruit so just counting calories, according to that plan, isn't the way to eat healthy. But I do agree there are too many freebie programs out there.
I actually find counting calories to be more of a pain than counting points. With calorie counting, you have to enter absolutely everything you eat from lettuce to fruits to meats, etc. At least with points, fruits and veggies are free. I found it to be a complete PITA to enter everything I put in a salad.
But WW rolled out this new program too quickly and IMO they just weren't ready. Things are a mess and people are frustrated with it.

On what basis, OP, are you stating the title of this thread? When people make statements such as this, I expect to see some kind of documentation as to where they are coming up with it. Anybody can post anything.

I read that the subscribers dropped in droves when the new program came out. Maybe 25% since December? I think it has more to do with the program than Oprah. I don't care if she loses 150 lbs on the new WW program, unless she gains an understanding of her relationship to food, it will come back. It is more than just following whatever program. She has other issues that food soothes.

She's still $30 Million ahead in profit from her investment in Weight Watchers.
