Dr Love was an amazing breast cancer doc for many years, always loved listening to her on talk shows. but I have to agree Dr Northrup's book, Wisdom of Menopause is the best on meno, I have seen her speak on PBS.

@Shelbelle   Yes, both good. Dr Love wrote hers 20 years ago, although she did update. Dr Northrop is amazing as well either of their books are a great gift to a friend going through issues.

Re: Oprah Show Last Night

[ Edited ]

I didn't watch the show, although I love Oprah as a person. She is an amazing women who has accomplished so much. I didn't watch her show when it was on as I wasn't a tv daytime watcher. I would hear about each show next thru media or friends tho!!  lol. I am not a believer in hormones use for me,  but everyone is different.  I did take  them for menopause in 2000. By 2003 I had breast cancer. They did link it to hormone use. But, who really Knows?? I had DCIS, and partial mastectomy.  I did not take the tamoxifen they recommended. But I found pro and cons in each book did research, and decided since I was almost 60 at time and past menopause, with few hormones left ,I would just do radiation, partial mastectomy and call it a day. That was 22 years ago.  Hormone issue and use is so personal , each women needs to make her own decision  based on lots of research...and thought. I don't think I would take the latch solely on advice of celeb.  But That's me

Although I'm not a fan of Oprah's and skip her shows, this show might actually be meaningful in the future to women approaching menopause are afraid and don't have anyone to talk to.

Most of the posts here seem to be from women who've already been there and done that and meno is in the rear view mirror.

Why would any of them be the least bit interested?

I quit watching Oprah years ago. When the movie The Color Purple was made, years ago, it was such a great movie. To this day, I consider it one of my top 10 favorites. But with all the political leanings and comments over the years, I steer clear of anything she is in or is producing.

I didn't see the show as I am beyond that stage.  However, no one ever mentioned this subject when I was growing up  as everything was so private.  For those women who are interested in the subject I don't see a problem.  I wish I had been informed.
