Until I pick up my daughter at the airport woo hoo! Last time I saw her was July 2022 for a couple of days. We see each other about once a year since she lives on the other side of the world. Two nights here, then my hub will drive us to Ft Lauderdale on Saturday to embark on the mother daughter birthday cruise 

Sometimes I'm envious of people whose kids and grands live close to them. But my single, childless daughter is so happy with the life she's chosen- what do we want most for our children? For them to feel happy, fulfilled and in our case, to know God. She has all of these. 😊

Anyway, this makes turning 72 a pleasure 🥳

How nice for both of you.

At times my folks rented housing for my grandparents to have extended visits in what ever country we were in.  That worked well.  Could you plan something like that too?

Yes! We are going to visit Darcy in Bangkok in six months. Leaving New Years Eve day, returning Jan 17. She is securing a small apartment for us, where several of her coworker's families have stayed.

oh cool! My daughter is 36 how about yours? Darcy is a Special Ed teacher in a community Christian school. She says her students are her kids and that's enough for her. 
I felt sort of obligated to have children, because that was part of the expectation for Boomer women- go to college, get married, have a family. I'm glad that our kids made life choices based on what they want, not on what we their parents thought they should do.

My daughter just turned 30 last October, she is a pilot and just made captain, she has always wanted to be a pilot so I am super happy for her.  She went to the Air Force Academy but broker her leg during boot camp and didn't return.  I have another daughter that is 32 that has twin girls and a 1 year old boy and she is local so I do get my grandma fix.  I tried for 9 years to have kids.  My youngest knows she doesn't want children but she did have a boyfriend for a few years that I loved but he wasn't the one she broke up with him , I kind of liked having a man around to make me feel safe for her.

@smoochy What a wonderful upcoming vacation birthday cruise you're going to have.  I am excited for you.

And, you are going to Bangkok later on in the year?   That's another great place.  The people are so friendly in Thailand. I have been there several times and I now have a nephew who lives there.
