Why does this question come up so often? Don't we all know why there are no political forums and discussions here? I find it hard to believe the OP doesn't know this already.
Same responses given "it's QVC's forum." We don't have that pleasure here. I'm ok with that. This is like beating a dead horse to death......

Threads get nasty here and the discussion is only about a show host! Can you imagine if politics or religion were discussed?
I was on a couple of serious political boards many years ago.... when someone hacked another poster, found out where they lived and then went after them.... (was ultimately arrested!) I quit and never went back. Just not worth it.

I haven't been able to figure out why some folks quote the post of another and then put their post inside the quote box so that it looks like what they say was said by the prior person.
This board is the only place I've ever seen that and it boggles the mind. I mean, you have to go out of your way to move the cursor up into the quote box to do that, so it is intentional. Maybe somebody else knows why some people do that here.
Sometimes my cursor just goes there when I click on the quote button, I don't know why. I don't just put it there. And when I see it I can't change it without going back to the beginning of the process.
I usually do notice it, and do go back and do it over, but if I screwed up once or twice I'M SORRY:catlol
I.

I agree, this isn't a shopping forum. Not with games, movies, recipes, etc.
And on Chat, very little discussion is about shopping.
QVC does allow a variety of topics but these are all of a NON-controversial nature, political discussions are an emotionally charged and these topics can get very heated...I totally understand why QVC doesnt allow it.....And like others have said plenty of other Forums for that type of discussion and/or debate and even then some of the discussions on those Forums are not an exchange or civil debate of ideas its nothing but a mean spirited ugly mess.....

@Nataliesgramma wrote:I' ve seen this forum get ugly with posters commenting on a subject that seems pretty bland.....
After being on here awhile, I also see that some have vendettas against other posters and will go after them whenever they post...
I am glad QVC keeps the boards the way they do.....
@Nataliesgramma @CelticCrafter
That's so true.....I saw a thread about wolf spiders of all things turn really nasty there was about 70 pages and the Mods did their joband deleted all the inappropriate and mean and nasty posts....when they were done only 3 pages were left....and I repeat the topic was wolf spiders....so I can only imagine what politicial topics would bring...

I was in debate in high school, so it depresses me that so often political discussions these days devolve almost immediately into arguing versus intelligently discussing some topic--presenting a sound thesis statement with appropriate facts to back it up and then having an interesting discussion based on those facts. Along the way in a good discussion, someone with another opinion can present a different thesis and back that one up with other facts. A good discussion focuses on the real facts and not on feelings. These days, in contrast, there seems to be a lot of anger and the citing of long-since-debunked "facts" as inaccurate "proof" of some immovable belief. This happens on all sides. Best to keep it off of QVC's site-- and avoid such arguments on other sites!
Here is the problem...a debate is not the same as a discussion.
A discussion is the exchange of ideas usually based upon a persons, background, faith, economic position, family dynamics etc. A discussion is often beneficial in understanding others positions on issues and perhaps finding common ground or compromises.
Then you have those who come in with "facts" to prove they are right and you are wrong. My "facts" are better than your "facts". It then degrades into the win at all costs mentality. Nothing is accomplished, no ones mind is changed and the mods have spent a lot of time deleting the whole thing.
Perhaps if there were more discussions rather than debates.......
@CrazyDaisy, 100 hearts to you for this. You expressed the problem perfectly.
Not everyone wants to, nor should they be expected to, engage in a formal debate over any subject just because some were captain of the debating team in HS and college. We're long out of school.
The real problem is posters declaring, and/or assuming, that we're all obliged to play by academic debate rules on a discussion board, and the debaters who "go after" other posters who have no interest in debate, but do have an interest in discussion, to force-shame them into a faux "debate" so they can declare points scored and debate won, and they can be so proud and righteous.
If we had a Debater's Forum, it would quickly degenerate into "I'm debating with flawless logic, but you have no logic, your facts aren't true (but mine are of course) so I win." No different than the way things are now.
Just to clarify, as I suspect it may need clarifying -
The different-colored "emphasis" part of this post, and the addition of Noel7's name, although it appears it could be something I posted, was posted by @YorkieonmyPillow, not me. Sometimes, either by accident or ?, a person will post such that it looks like the entire post was written by one person, when indeed it is another poster's response to that post.

It became apparent after reading this a couple of times that the changes you mentioned were not yours @Moonchilde.
Perhaps Yorkie could come back and explain why she notified Noel when Noel wasn't a part of this particular comment.

I've heard of families being split because of Facebook political discussions so I suppose QVC doesn't want to venture in those areas. I do wish that if someone comments on a public political figure's hair or dress, we could talk about it, but inevitably, someone makes it political and the thread is shut down.

Thank you. I just noticed my name in green and couldn't figure out why I was included as if I had made one of the comments.

Well said.....and it basically amounts to: no one is going to change anyones mind about their political views, and vice versa----no one is going to change the mind of someone with an opposite point of view----so there's no point of having political threads there certainly wouldn't be a civil discussion of the issues....

Actually it has happened. I saw someone write about that very thing once, and how she had changed her mind. And having been here for some time, I know for sure that feelings changed in other ways also.
