@LindaSal I also live in the northeast and I was just complaining to my husband today, that it has been unusually
windy here since the beginning of April.
Just today, in the next town, Salem, MA, there was a house fire in a three family house and with the wind, it spread
and five more three family homes burned.
A couple of weeks ago, a large house near me burned to the ground and the wind spread the fire to several acres of woodland. We are also near a large forest that is partially on fire today.
We have a lot of trees on our property and have lost a lot of branches, this spring, but fortunately no trees came down.
We have never seen wind like this in May.
I hope that the extreme wind settles down and fires can be controlled in the western states. The fires are the most frightening and devastating.

@Enufstuff Oh my, I didn't hear about the fires in and near Salem. I've been in RI my whole life and I have also been talking with my DH about the winds. Neither of us remember ever having so many windy days in a row and sometimes in excess of 50mph. We live high up on a hill and we literally have to bungee cord our lawn furniture to the deck as last summer I watched my table out there blow from one end to the other. It really has been increasing over the last couple of years IMO. Stay safe, there is really nothing more worrisome than fires. Our townhouse borders a state park with over 300 acres of woods, scary thought.

The wind here in New Mexico (Colorado's neighbor to the south) is keeping our state burning.
Our spring winds are legendary.
I live in Colorado and totally understand, but I am so worried about these fires in NM. My family is from Las Vegas and the surrounding area and has been there for generations. The house my mother and grandmother were born in is threatened in Las Vegas. I've been keeping tabs everyday. It's very difficult to watch and know there is nothing you can do.

I'm so sorry you have something else to worry about -- as we if all don't have enough already. Fingers and toes crossed that they're able to contain this fire. ![]()
