A week from today, my husband's oldest and youngest brother have to meet in court. That is because they are both trustees in my late father-in-law's estate.

It has been more than a year since he passed away, and no assets from the estate have been disbused. This has been due to oldest holding on to everything and refusing to do so.

It is a simple estate. All debts have been paid and forms filed. Oldest owes the estate $25,000 that he "borrowed," other monies left in the accounts, and proceeds for the year of rent he has collected on the house. He has also refused to disburse my mother-in-law's jewelry he has been holding on to. He doesn't WANT a blind drawing for it.

All 4 brothers signed a binding agreement on buying/selling the house. 2 want to buy, the other 2 want to sell. The contract stated there would be an independent appraisal done to establish the market value of the house. That would determine the price of buying/selling. Oldest gets the appraisal and refuses to honor the contract. He feels the appraisal is too high, and spent weeks "researching" this before "challenging" the appraisal.

This led the my husband and youngest (who want to sell) to finally take court action against oldest. Oldest hid from being served for 4 days.

This has been a nightmare, and I am so glad we should know SOMETHING next week.
