Re: One Good Reason I Shop at QVC

@Mersha - When I typed "looking at someone the wrong way" I was being sarcastic. In any walk of life there are good people and others. I am glad the officers I know are the former.

@beach-mom   You might want to go back read your post.

You indicated the officers' "superior," according to the the "one" that you were talking with, advised the officers to be careful in light of looking at someone the wrong way and being caught on film.

Reading your post, I understood you to be relaying what was told to you.

Of course, I am sure all the police officers you know are wonderful.

Another break in and robbery of a nice store. The employees had to stand and watch. Security can't do anything. The police are worried about their jobs if anything goes wrong. It is so sad.

They interviewed one of the store's managers. She said the items would end up on Amazon or Poshmark.

I try not to order from 3rd party sellers on Amazon, but I have a few times in the past. I'm not familiar with Poshmark. It wasn't that long ago they didn't exist.

But I know when I order from QVC I am safe from buying stolen merchandise.

@beach-mom   Years ago one of our seasonal post office workers was stealing jewelry pkgs coming from QVC. I had a citrine ring stolen (which QVC replaced) and had to fill out an affidavit about its theft for our county prosecutor who was prosecuting the person.

@Pearlee - That is so sad. QVC really came through to help you! I'm so glad you were able to get your ring. Smiley Happy

Six law officers in Mississippi broke into a home, without a warrant, and tortured two black men for hours.

They have been fired and have plead quilty.

Google it if you want details.

@occasionalrain  - I saw that on the news.  It was a white (female) neighbor who called the police to report the black men being in a white person's home!

WTH is going on with people that someone would think it was okay to call the police on that?  And why didn't the police contact the homeowner first to ask if everything was okay?

That really was despicable, but I'd like to see the white neighbor prosecuted as well.  None of it would've happened without her phonecall.

Re: One Good Reason I Shop at QVC

I'm currently in the final stages of trying out for my city's police academy to become a police officer.  I read an article that stated that police departments are short hundreds of cops in major cities and that women are underrepresented as new hires and useful in dealing with emotionally sensitive cases that involve domestic violence or child welfare.

Shoplifting is unfortunately widespread and its unnerving to walk into stores as a customer and see aisle after aisle locked behind protective walls.  I think that the pandemic emboldened criminals even more because the COVID masks gave thieves a disguise so that they weren't easily identifiable on security cameras.    I hope that I can get this career and make a difference, help others and keep the city safe.

This ole gal, has been trying very, very hard, not to sound like my Grandmother, thinking/saying  "Times sure have changed!"  Woman Frustrated    And I'm referring to all the way UP & DOWN from all our highest MGT to Peons,  all of Society.  It can be a bummer!!

I  vacillate between

1)  Stop watching News, or

2)  Watching, discerning,

Altho, I dont dare, not to know what's going on in the World, so I can protect myself.

Then, I remind myself of another @QVC Forum Poster's tagline here, that says something like:  "~I know the Book, and in the end, we win."   I keep working towards that!

  and       H-O-P-E

And ALL the Good People, ALL the seemingly Unsung Heroes, who help, one way or another!  My life has been filled with them, otherwise, I wouldnt be here, no doubt!        H-O-P-E

The News seems to catch & endlessly promote the aberrant behaviors.

But there's MUCH GOOD in the World too!  Good News,  Doesnt scare, & doesnt sell in the News tho. But it's always been there, thru Generations, it seems.  (referring to my GrandMother's sad mantra)   The names & awful activities seem to change, but it's always been there, in some form or another.

Remembering & doing my best part, at being a part of the GOOD in the World.  That's the best I can do, & try to diligently work on my part of Good in the World.  Provide someone else's   H-O-P-E

Receptive to someone giving me H=O=P=E

And making sure to internally & externally acknowledge other ppl's efforts to help.

 H-O-P-E    &     G-R-A-T-I-T-U-D-E

My intended, continued mantras

My Antidotes  (to all that seems wrong)!

Are you a cop? I doubt it. Walk a mile in their shoes and you'd run home crying like a baby.

Yes, some cops are bad, evil, people.  So are some dentists, doctors, secretaries, salespeople, executives, servers, bartenders, and the list goes on.

Bad cops should be prosecuted to the fullest extent. I've cried and protested about bad cops who have hurt people.

But not all cops are bad. Most work very hard and care about people. They want to do the best they can for everyone.
