I don't think I'll get to see it this year. That, or the March of the Wooden Soldiers. A channel in NYC that usually airs it has been removed from my Fios tv. Every holiday, the yule log burning with Christmas music and the March of the Wooden Soldiers and the Wizard of Oz....
I should be on the phone complaining to Fios for them to reach a deal with WPIX.
I just searched again to discover that they reached a multi year deal. The Yule log will be back in full effect, and The Wizard of Oz and March of the Wooden Soldiers.

We had Black & White TV then also.
I remember being so pleasantly delighted, the first time, I saw the screen switch to color, when Dorothy opened that door.
Heck, what am I saying, ...
...... I'M STILL DELIGHTED SEEING THAT COLOR SWITCH!
I cant remember...
... was it originally filmed in color? . or "colorized" at a later date?

My mother saw the movie when it first came out in the theater (1939) ! She was a little girl, but she still remembers when the movie turned from black-and-white to color-- it was spellbinding for the audience! Most movies were NOT in color at that time, so seeing the land of OZ in color really took the viewers to another world.

The movie was not colorized. It was shot in color ( the first portion in black and white.)
The transformation was done to accentuate the magic and spectacle that was Oz.
Sorry to veer off topic, but @gertrudecloset .....
I have been trying to figure out how folks do that "line out" feature when they want to
negate something but actually insinuate their original intent. I have tried the dash and space bar but they apparently are not it! How does one do it? Thanks!
We now return you to your original broadcast.......
