I saw the broadcast this morning, and while I have never cared for Dr. Oz, the fact that I don't like the messenger doesn't necessarily mean that there is no validity in the message.

The two points the OP made (that Oz made) have been brought up before, and both are legitimate possibilities (although we can argue just how probable they are). I'll never understand why people are criticized for thinking outside the box, considering all scenarios, and sharing ideas. It isn't fear mongering or hysteria unless you make up facts or distort what is true. Smart people what to consider all ideas and possibilities, then decide for themselves (with education and research, along with intuition) what they believe, or consider possible.

ITA. I don't think we should put our heads in the sand. You have to be thinking of all possibilities and be prepared, not wait until it's too late and everyone is scrambling.

I agree, focksie.

Doesn't appear to me that everyone who needs to be prepared is actually, well, PREPARED.

"Ooops" isn't going to be helpful.

I guess Sanjay Gupta was fear-mongering, too, when he expressed his concerns.

I really dislike Oz but I don't think he was fear mongering this morning.

The op was fear mongering by leaving out an important part of what he said. Not liking panic & hysteria & quotes taken out of context isn't the same as sticking heads in the sand btw (:

The best way to prepare is to have universal healthcare in America.

No kidding. Especially now we are seeing that as many as 80 people were exposed in Dallas, that they know of.
