Wow, not going to make fun of anyones fears, but standing on a chair over a mouse? they can't hurt you! I know most fears are irrational and stem from a place we can't control..
Shorty, I am sorry it caused you to have words with your beloved, but I think you hit the p with him- What if you were BOTH scared mice? you are a good complement for each other-
And yes, if you see one or two, there are probably more... Love your description of your cats reaction..We have sort of "overdomesticated" our pets these days..They probably didn't know what was expected of them..
i love snakes and lizards, so frequently have to pick those up for folks that are scared of them..
Just remember, no matter how scared you are, a mouse cannot hurt you..Now SPIDERS.....well, thats another story....LOL!

Thanks for the replies. To clarify, I stood on chair years ago at my apartment..lol. I cant stand on one now.
Well 2 exterminators I called last night and this morning NONE called one said would call back today was home all day. Never did. I guess theyre closed till Monday.
After work my husband put 20 traps in basement, kitchen laundry room. and what do we see mice coming from basement running. Unreal. Only an exterminator can help us.
Early today when sunny out, I saw none but they are nocturnal so they are out at night.
Also my kids cant understand this whole thing because this house was just housecleaned weeks ago as far as cabinets, woodwork, floors fridge curtains everything. I cant do what I used to other than regular cleaning and DH does floors. But my teen grandkids scrubbed everything in our entire house. Never saw one mouse then or signs of mice. So I don't get it.
My friend said tonight, maybe the neighbor had an issue and got an exterminator, now theyre coming here?

Just read a column in the paper written by an exterminator. He said if you poison mice in the house their mites will get on something else (you?) and continue to multiply. Better to use traps and take the mouse and its lice to the garbage.I think mice are cute... they don't bother me. I have not seen them in my house, although I have seen them in the attic. I leave them alone. Brown Recluse spiders, they bother me much more.

I never, ever, leave my garage door open longer than it takes to get the car in and out. I think that is how the mouse entered my house and populated. I am highly surprised we only had a problem once because we actually live in the woods, very rural. Occasionally I see one seeking shelter at the carport underneath our deck.
I grew up in a farm house just down the road from where I now live, and thinking back we rarely had a problem with mice. Guess we're just lucky. Hope I didn't jinx myself with this post. Now chipmunks that another story. We have plenty of them outside and I worry if one of them gets in they may chew my wiring.
