I watched the first woman's mogul trials last night. My knees were hurting with sympathy pains.

LOVE LOVE LOVE all of the events!  MY kids were very involved in sports in school and I see everything through parents' eyes-I know how much work and dedication it took for the whole family.  Also thinking that I would bet every family has a Covid story to tell this year -makes it all the more precious Heart

Filming in the wrong place or saying the wrong thing?

Just saw a short clip online..CCP agents pull Dutch reporter away on live TV in Beijing.  Not sure what that was about. I would love to have a translation of that exchange.

@MorningLover

Media members from other countries in unauthorized areas! Some completely disappeared, others were held in prisons for various laws they supposedly broke.

I previously stated my view on these Olympics and no need to repeat them. Anyone that is a United States Citizen had better be very careful about what they say for the duration of their stay.

Think back to how much bartering between the United States with other countries for exchanges of prisoners. Those countries grab people and imprison them, then make up laws they broke.

When the even the tainted(imo)IOC tells all from the United States to use only "burner phones"?

Anyone recall the really old days of competitive figure skating when judges closely watched and scored skaters on making compulsory figures, like circles and figure 8s?

It use to makeup a large percentage of overall scoring, but declined in popularity over the years and was completely eliminated from competition by 1990.

Austrian Trixi Schuba excelled in the figures, winning multiple World titles and the 1972 Gold due to her technical prowess.

@Johnnyeager It seems these days they are too focused on jumps featuring four (or five?) revolutions, which are seldom done cleanly.

I remember skaters doing their "school figures" in the Olympics.  I fear that the practice would be too tedious for ratings now.

I also marvel at the pounding those young joints are taking!

They should all get gold medals just for competing!

We used to watch all of it, the opening ceremonies , the interviews, background stories, the daily events, thru the closing ceremonies, winter and summer.  It was exciting to watch for certain countries during the parades, but most especially our own, and then eagerly watch our athletes perform, but we're also boycotting this year.

USA figure skating won the silver team medal, excellent accomplishment. Karen Chen's program last night was so beautiful, I love her skating.

I refuse to take it out on the athletes and "boycott" any of it.
