@sunshine45wrote:we went out to a bar to watch the snowboarding. that event was so darn exciting! i was glued to the tv the entire time watching those twists and flips. what a great event!
i am now home and watching the pairs figure skating short program.
watched some of the womens luge event earlier today while at work.
have seen a few horrible spills in a few events today.
@sunshine45 Love the snowboarding and more tonight. I remember the year we first took DD to the snow for skiing, I sat, and watched people snowboarding, a new soon to be sport event, hardly heard of then.
Ooops, I am wrong about this, apparently it became official in 1998 but was around for a long time before, so when I saw them, it was I who knew nothing about the sport. We didn't take DD to the snow until 2003, lol.

did you catch the snowboard crossevent last night? that was so exciting.....and lots of spills!
the two americans knocked each other out of contention during the medal round.
i was also enjoying the finals in the pairs figure skating competition. so sorry that the USA did not do so well, but very happy that the german team won.....pure joy on their faces.

@sunshine45 No, darn it, didn't know about the snowboard crossover event, what exactly is it, searched but didn't find, but did watch the pairs. It was so moving listening to the Russian girl whose husband died on the ice, such a wonderful couple they were, I remember.

here is some information about the snowboard cross event. it is sort of like motorcross, but on snowboards. the women have their chance tonight LIVE if you get the chance to watch it.
there was a very bad accident in the mens cross event......an austrian snowboarder broke his neck during a quarterfinal run.

@sunshine45 Thank you, I just saw the women's, so will stay with it, don't recall ever seeing a crossover before, nervewracking, lol. I want to see the men's tonight or some of it. I catch a lot late at night.
The skier is so lucky, it could have been so much worse.
