Re: Olympics Opening Ceremony Today

Love, love, love the Q forums when they scold a Dutch artist for a 1635 museum masterpiece!

Cracks me up!

Is art not subjective and do we not have the right to not like all artists?  Not my taste for this artist, not sure why this leaves anyone jumping for joy so to speak in their typed words.

You, of course, have a right to your opinion.

Imo, why would they choose this particular

painting.   While these gods were mythical many people worshiped them. Some of the things they represented were rape, many affairs, marrying sisters (Zeus even ate his  wife) and throwing your own child over a cliff. Most of these so called great gods committed  horrible crimes.

Even if this wasn't mocking the last supper, I must ask myself....what did this really add to the Olympics? What was the reason  they chose this particular presentation?  I think I know but I don't want to cause a riot so I'll end my posts on this subject.

The Olympics should be about the athletes who work so hard & give up a lot to achieve their dream not a controversy. Dionysus was on the runway & was not at The Last Supper. I didn’t take offense as I didn’t pay much attention; I was watching the fashion. Do those offended take issue with the drag queens or the art?

The Opening Ceremony has always been about the Host Country and how they want the World to see themselves.

It is also where the Olympic Athletes are introduced from each country.

@Stray :  I think when someone shows you who they are, you should believe them.  They have continually backtracked on the narrative of this depiction.  I get it.....
