I read a recent article that said the parent company (Darden Restaurants Inc) of these restaurants is struggling to keep them viable. It seems that their profits have fallen short of corporate expectations.

I'm not a huge fan of either, but would sure hate to see them close. We got an Olive Garden in our little town a couple years ago after years of negotiating. We have yet to dine there, but did go to one in CA when we lived there. We're 90 miles away from the closest Red Lobster now, but also ate at one a couple times in CA.

To me, they both have decent but not spectacular food. We tend to patronize local, non-chain restaurants, so we don't actually contribute to their bottom line....yet it would be a shame if they end up failing.
