I remember a nic "SallySuan" that liked to raise havoc in the past.
Wasn't that one of the many IDs of the Larry/Lucy/Mellie/whateverelse poster who's been trolling here for years?
Anyway, what makes this even worse is that others will respond so even when the troll is eliminated the old threads stay at the top.
True . . . that is happening now with an old post of mine.

There will be listings of recent threads you were interested in. You can bring them up again by a new comment on the subject. That will bury the dreck to some extent.
Good idea.

Mellie was not Larry nor was she Sally Suan. Mellie already told us years ago that her first nic was Lucy Longfellow.
If you are referring to the other Lucy, that was Curley Sue, by her own admission.
Since Mellie isn't here anymore to defend herself, why drag her into this??

I don't see anything wrong with it. It's an open forum.

I kinda/sorta like it....cleans house, in a way.
I like when I happen upon one of these old threads. I read a topic of interest...TOTALLY agree w/ the poster & their statement (!)...whaaa...that's MY old thread/response! Ha.

I do not know what is worse -- reopening all of these old threads in an attempt to troll the boards or posting repliers to them so hat they remain on top (particularly by those simultaneously complaining about the issue).

Last night when I opened viewpoints I couldn't understand why so many threads that started in September were running one by one down the page. Why would anyone want to take the time to do that? This proves that all the people who post here are not mature adults. If you ask me, and nobody has, I consider that type of activity to be somewhat sick and the person or persons who did it needs help. Maybe someone can give her or him a sandbox to play in.

What is scary is that I think they use it to test the program access to the site and then while webbie's time is taken up dealing with the posting mess, the hacker works on other code to break into accounts.
Everyone might want to keep an eye on their accounts.
DEFINITELY! Anyone who hasn't set up their account for e-mail notifications on purchases yet should make sure they get it done. Saved me thousands of dollars and aggravation.

I agree with you Buck-i-Nana. You certainly speak from experience. Email notifications on our accounts are important protection.
All we can do is report the problem and guess why someone has done it, but I keep going back to the previous discussions the last couple of times it happened. First, I don't see how it would help to try and hide unwanted threads because most of us (I think we do?) check "My Activity" to see what's going on in threads of interest. You'll notice in the mornings, in particular, people seem to post updates on threads they previously posted on. Plus, it's easy to look a few pages back and see all the threads that were moved down by the bumping. Also, as we've discussed before, there was a long-time poster who constantly complained about the "boring" threads and also talked about all the staff s/he had with plenty of technical expertise. Gotta wonder about that.
