Marshall Fields (sp?) in Chicago.  It had the most wonderful windows, huge clocks on all 4 corners, sent pkgs on Christmas eve, tea room tree,  toy floor where kids couldtry the toys and pick their favorites and the most real Santa.

@Tinkrbl44   Oh, yes, most definitely...I shopped Loehmann's in NY and when I moved to AZ 34 yrs ago, there was a Loehmann's right here in Phoenix!  It was the first store of its kind in retail.  Discounted designer clothes.  Excellent quality.

I'll add Bamberger's  and EJ Korvettes to that list.

I worked in Strawbridge's one summer and Korvettes for three years.

Does anyone remember a store called Lansdale I think it was either in PA or MD?No it was Lansburgh's dept store! My sister had a friend who knew the son of the owner.

We went to their house once and it was super rich! It had marble statues and a huge staircase. The kitchen was so big and had every kind of food to eat-cakes and all kinds of wonderful things. I was always hungry so it was like dreamland. He took out some icecream. The son's name was Terry.

Then he drove us in his sportscar at about 100 miles and hour. I was so scared!

It was all like something out of a movie!

We have Barnes and Noble near us. In fact, 2 of them. It still exists. Maybe you are thinking of Borders?
