I fully support capital punishment when warranted by the crime. I do not view it as a "deterrent" but as the ultimate punishment for the ultimate crime. That's why its called capital punishment, not capital deterrence.

Agreed.

We're waiting for the execution of the guy that killed the daughter of our best friends. Too bad those that died can't push the button themselves.

Many countries consider our DP to be barbaric.

I agree with them...

Those are the countries that barely punish criminals and let them out to create further havoc. I want people like Ted Bundy six feet under, but then I look at it from the side of the victim, and their family.

Very true.

And yet they force their young women into arranged marriages and if they refuse, well, they meet the very same fate.

I'm for capital punishment. It's not used enough. Too many appeals...especially when you know someone is guilty without a doubt.

I agree with all the appeals "if" and "only if" there is question.

I agree and when there's no doubt, justice should be swift and inexpensive.

The only thing I posted that she said was that she asked them not to put him to death.

That is known. I didn't twist anything.

I said that she probably visited him in prison, which is obviously an opinion.

If you give her credit for her view, that's your choice - just as it is my choice to disagree.

This is what you posted in your post #24:

That mother is an idiot. After all the police work she pleads for his life - she is just like those women who stay with men who KNOW they are abusing/molesting their children, and they don't intervene to protect their own kids. She probably visited him in prison...

By referring to her as an idiot, you did not complete the whole picture as to why this mother said what she said, unless you feel forgiveness and her faith are idiotic.

That was my point in replying to you.

I do think she had more reason to ask for clemency than she is saying. JMO

I don't care for the death penalty bc of the cost to taxpayers either; however, this one and the last one where the guy gasped for 40 minutes or so - don't feel a bit sorry. The one that truly went wrong before this that "suffered" had buried girls alive.

These guys get much more compassion than they offered their victims and rather than trying various combinations of drugs to kill someone, and if this is all truly about compassion so some thug killing babies and burying people alive doesn't suffer, let them take the pills the young lady that went to Oregon took (Brittany and her right to die) and my guess is that drug could also be made into liquid form and be used as an injectable as well.
