Fun question! I would get a small green shamrock on my outer ankle to celebrate my Irish heritage. Not going to happen until they come up with a way to do it without needles. I don't hurt myself on purpose.
That's exactly what i did. I'm also Irish. I was in my early thirties at the time. I had the tattoo artist do a small shamrock on my inner ankle. It's not very large so when the need to cover it came up I could either put a small bandage on it or just wear a pair of socks. Throughout most of my life very few people have even noticed it. But I know it's there and I just enjoy looking at it. The vibrant green color has faded from it and I have never considered having it redone but I don't regret having it. By the way, it really didn't hurt at all having it done.

@new nickname 4 From a fellow Cancer survivor, I love that saying! When I went through mine my adult kids bought me a beautiful framed message with a picture of a horse with the saying; "Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway" , I still have that picture hanging in my home.
BTW, if I did get a tattoo it would be a breast cancer ribbon on my right ankle as that is the side I had it on.

I always thought I was a "never tatoo" person until my Dad died. He loved cardinals (and so does my Mom), so I got a male and female cardinal sitting on a flowering branch on my left shoulder. No one can see it unless I choose to show them.
It was painful (and I HATE needles), but there was something cathartic (spelling?) about the pain. It was like releasing some of the pain from losing him. And now I have a beautiful tribute tattoo that makes me smile whenever I see it.
Great question!

A little ladybug or a little bunny or a little heart on my ankle.

I'm getting my fourth tattoo in a few weeks. It will be a bird.

Honestly, I never understood why anyone would ever get one .... unless you were a drunk Marine on leave somewhere with money to spend. And that was before I realized they are painful! What the heck???
Some call them body art, but most of them just seem like permanent grafitti on the body .
JMO .... I know some people like them. I just don't get it.
As a teen, I got my ears pierced and that was enough needles for me.

I'm a animal girl, so it might be one of my favs - like a hummingbird or a shark, or maybe a peace sign. I always loved the peace sign.
All that said, however, the one reason I never even contemplated it was that the idea of that needle kind of freaks me out. Unless you can drug me up or somehow anesthetize the area, I don't think I could do it. Too wimpy. it just looks like it really hurts!
No judgment, though. Your body, your choice. ![]()

I don't have any tats but if I did get one it would be...a small simple cross on the inside of my wrist.

It would be a tramp stamp and would be either Mistletoe or Gaelic for "kiss my arse".

What is interesting is how different is the pain in different areas of the body -- that could definitely inform you as to the location on which you would get a tattoo. Also information about the safest ink and precedures is important before you go ahead and get the tatt. (I don't have any tattoos, btw, but have looked at some interesting info that you can find online at some sites that you feel that you can trust.)
Best wishes, everyone!
