We went to lunch today at a new diner that just opened. It was jammed.We had to wait a half hour for our food then it was cold but we were tired and hungry so we ate it anyway. The bill comes and DH gives her a CC - she brings it back and when he went to sign it he realized it was not his CC. Called the waitress over and she said OMG - I mixed them up. She goes running around and found our CC at another table. So she gets the owner who said - I had to credit the other man's bill and then run yours so you will see a credit and your bill on the statement. OK. So DH waits 3 hours and checks the CC website - no credit - but both charges are there - ours and the other guys.He calls the CC company to see if a credit was issued - explained what happened and they say no credit was issued, but they will not pay the charge we are questioning so we won't be charged for. The CC rep also felt the only safe thing for us to do is to consider our card compromised and they will issue us a new one. So now, 2 bills that are paid off that card automatically will have to be notified the card is no longer good and we will call them with new CC # when we get it. All this trouble and not once did the owner even say she was sorry.Though the waitress did apologize and also chased us out to the parking lot and returned her tip because she felt bad for what had happened. Even when I said to the owner that we had waited a half hour for our food - she gave me attitude and said they were busy. The food was not special at all either. We will not be going back. DH is trying to call the diner owner to ask her to redo that credit, but she has him on terminal hold.

It is unfortunate that this happened but nost likely they will not issue a credit but will not process the bill and it wil fall off the account is 3 days.

Put a stop on the credit card payment to the diner, a formal stop  They won't pay it.  It sounds like they may be doing that already, but you have to make sure they do.

They should also be able to handle your other payments and switch them to your new card, ask.

We had our credit card number stolen and went through this, it should work out OK for you.

Someone raised her right.  Sorry for not even getting a good meal out of the day.  You need a special treat tonight.   Sugar and salt.

@151949

Just a suggestion, it might be better if you write in paragraphs instead of one big block.

I've seen a lot of people here say they refuse to even read block writing.  You will get more responses if you type in standard form.

In general I don't go to a restaurant until it's been up and running for a few months to work out all the kinks.

This happened to me one evening when I went out with co-workers, it took two days for the credit to show up because it was a weekend. I did notice the extra charge but the manager assured me that it would happen and I took her word for it and waited patiently. No problems occurred with my account.

That happened to us once.   They ran out credit card for someone else's check to the tune of $400.    It took a while to straigten that out with the restaurant.

I felt they shouldn't have charged us for out meal.   But they barely apologized.

It wasn't a new restaurant either.   We never went back
