On 1/21/2014 MrsLorraine said:Oy vey. Long story short:
When the tech was doing the post-dental surgery check, she found a "bump" of some kind on the right side of his chest. Since he had a tumor removed 13 months ago, she wanted a vet to look at it so a couple of hours later when his vet was in, we dragged him back again.
They shaved the fur off this lesion as much as possible and it looks like a big scab. Vet thought it might be from the clips used on him during surgery; it might have been placed wrong and thus irritated his skin which he licked at and caused this bump/scar to form.
It's pretty icky looking but appears to be in the healing-upstage. Still, just to be sure, we have to give him another antibiotic that's especially good for skin issues; so now instead of torturing him one a day, we now have to torture him twice a day. And he goes back in 10 days for another re-check on it.
When we got home, I gave him the dry food he loves and hasn't been allowed to eat for 2 weeks. So, in the words of Mammy in Gone With The Wind, he ate like a field hand and gobbled like a hog. And a few minutes later a lot of it came back up.
It's really my fault; I should never have let him have so much dry food.
I called my vet to let her know, but told them unless they think it's a matter of life and death I'm not dragging him back to the vet again today. He's been through enough.
My poor kitty.
Yes! Good news!![]()
Thanks for the update, MrsLorraine.

That's good news. Perhaps you could hand feed him a few dry kibbles at a time to slow down his eating.

Update: BooBoo is now throwing up the new (liquid) antibiotic. Of course I'll call the vet and figure out what to do next.

This often happens with antibiotics. I usually just call the vet, and he prescribes a different antibiotic. And as for the food, I found that my cat would eat the kibble too fast and get it stuck in her throat, and up it would come. I finally started buying Royal Canin Oral Sensitive formula for cats. It has much bigger kibble which meant she had to stop and chew before she swallowed. No more getting it caught and barfing it up.

let us know how he is doing. Did the vet change the meds?

I know my McGyver gets stressed out when he goes for a checkup. You should hear how loud he meows in his carrier. You'd think I was murdering him.
Susy, I just went through that with Ms Kitty. OMGosh, the ruckus she raised
and only while in the carrier
She is a people cat so she had no problem with the Vet, just being contained I guess.
