Oh dear oh dear oh dear...my cat BooBoo

I took him to the vet today for a final check-up on his dental surgery of two weeks ago. That part of him is doing very well but we also found some kind of...thing...underneath his right "armpit".

This is the cat that had a vicious (the vet's term) tumor excised from his left shoulder 13 months ago. It was a harrowing experience for poor Boo, and my husband and I have decided that if it should reoccur (and of course that's what we're afraid of right now) we're not going to put him through that again. We would make sure he's comfortable and free of pain till the end, then give him a comfortable transition to Kitty Heaven.

We take him back to the vet at noon today (PST). Please say a prayer for him and for us, to be able to handle the outcome, whatever it is. My poor little cat; he's been through so many health problems in his 9-1/2 years; I hope that this isn't more of the same.

Prayers for {{{{{Boo}}}}}

Was Yuban, then changed to Plaid Pants due to forum upgrade, and apparently, I'm back to being Yuban.

Poor Boo Boo. He needs medical insurance.

I'm sorry to hear that. I just parted with my 16 year old Maine Coon on Saturday and it's devastating. I hope that things work out for your lovely BooBoo.

He does, rcg, but he's much too old and has a ton of pre-existing conditions. Any cat(s) I adopt in the future will be insured.

I lost my beloved Sophie in September after a year long battle with a health issue that actually turned out to be cancer. I still can't bring myself to getting another kitty. It's just too hard to watch the end coming. Maybe I'll change my mind, but right now I am still grieving over my beautiful girl.

sorry to hear about your kitty's health issues.... I guess you have to weigh leaving the tumor or the discomfort of removing it. I had a cat live to be 19!! 9 1/2 is not that old if you think this kitty has a long life in him. If the tumor is slow growing and not painful... leave it. If it is fast growing and uncomfortable for kitty... then remove it.

Re: Oh dear oh dear oh dear...my cat BooBoo

You know, RGC, we lost our beloved black lab about 1&1/2 years ago and we thought our hearts would break. We decided to take some grieving time before finding another dog. After about 4 months, we still didn't think we were ready but casually started looking online at rescues. There was a yellow lab that caught our attention. We stopped in to have a look and he gave us that "You're not going to leave me here, are you?" look. Despite still thinking it might be too soon, we brought him home and he is the light of our lives! In no way does this diminish our love for our other dear boy. They are different as night and day! I look at it as a tribute to our lost boy that we missed him so much that we wanted to open our hearts to this one who needed us as much as we needed him. Don't mean to hijack your thread Mrs Lorraine!
