By the by, why do they call it "spinning"?
Why not call it what it is, like "bike class", or stationary bike class?
Spinning, makes it sound like you stand there and spin around in circles.
I mean, it's not like they call water aerobics, the get wet class.

What's his ulterior motive and backstory in those ads?
I just giggle at the Peloton commercial to me it pokes fun at the obsession with social media and need to be recognized and a husband's somewhat male chauvinist gift....
BUT like you the ones that make me CRINGE are:
The guy that buys not ONE, but TWO vehicles valued at $49,000 each---one for himself, and one for the wife---really what average Jane or Joe spends close to $100,000 on a Christmas gift....
And the other one is the bratty kid that captures Santa on his phone video and threatens to expose him unless Santa turns over his car to him...the kid looks to be about 10 or 11 so he cant even drive legally.... If I was Santa I would have given him the car and then as the kid sits behind the wheel, called the cops...LOL :womanlol:
@Spurt , Totally agree about that kid. Same thing popped into my head.
Start mowing lawns, kid. Save your pennies and maybe by the time youโre old enough to drive, youโll be able to buy your first clunker. Yes, I said clunker. Itโs gonna be a while before you can afford a nice car like Santaโs. ๐

Don't know why it's called 'spinning' but only Madd Dogg Athletics
can call it that since they own the trademarked work.
Indoor Cycling
Cycling
Cycle
You'll see the smaller gyms use 'cycle' as a generic class.
But 'stationary bike class'.....it's not a stationary bike.
An indoor bike will have a weighted flywheel with many different
adjustments in the seat & handles & a knob/levers to add
resistance.

I always tell my boyfriend if I buy him a car it will be leased and if we break up I'll quit the payments lol
I always wonder who is getting the cars, Pelatons, and jewelry. Not me!

It has a seat, just like a bicycle.
It has handle bars, just like a bicycle.
It has pedals, just like a bicycle.
It's a freakin bicycle that doesn't move.
By the very definition, it's a stationary bicycle.

It's kinda like the old adage... 'a calorie is a calorie'...
but anyone knowing anything about nutrition will say, 'no, it's not.'
Many different nuances factor in.
Just like cycling indoors.
You might be perfectly content w/ a fixed riding position the
factory determined for you. As a novice, that might be all you need.
And just hope you don't get injured.
But an indoor bike ('Spin' bike) has more custom adjustments &
resistance to mimic an outdoor bicycle. As an experienced athlete,
I need that customization, power meter & add'l resistance...
but maybe I'm just extra like that.
BUT...I'm not so extra I have to make a video to show my SO,
like the gal in the Peloton commercial! ๐๐

I see nothing wrong with the ad. She's happy to get the Peleton. She uses it. She KEEPS using it. She tells her husband a year later how happy she is he got it for her.
BTW, skinny people can be out of shape too. It doesn't have to be about losing weight. The only issue I might have with it is her incessant Selfi-ing.

Blah, blah, blah
Bottom line is, you sit on it like a bicycle, you pedal it like a bicycle, it has handle bars like a bicycle.
It doesn't go anywhere
It stays stationary in one spot.
It's a fancy stationary bicycle.

@Anonymous032819 It is a fancy stationary bike with all the bells & whistles! Along with the Peloton look & image, you need a glass wall with amazing views to position that fancy bike...an ordinary room just won't do.

Er, uh...it's not a bicycle.
BI = two
These bikes we are discussing, whether a stationery bike or
indoor 'spin' bike, only have 1 (ONE) wheel.
