I have to complain.  Why do vendors say " oh no" when an item sells out. Isn't that what they are supposed to do?  Such ridiculous tactics.

I don't think it's somehow a "tactic".   It's simply an acknowledgment that the product is moving.  

When I see the word "tactic" used,  it implies they are trying to "trick" you into buying something.  

Trickery?   Keep in mind that it's a Shopping Channel.   Duh.

My guess is the "Oh No" is exclaimed because there isn't anymore for others to purchase. A quck sell out is good in one way but it also deprives other folks, just tuning in, to be out of luck.

 tactic - in this instance it is being used as a psychological tool to influence you to " not miss out "  and buy an item

To me a tactic is a way of showing how someone handles things.

Clearly some people do not know the definition of tactic. It does not mean trickery. 

Tactics are the specific, planned actions and methods used to achieve a short-term goal or win a competitive situation.

@skatting44 To add to what you said,  I think that the message is that you should be "quick about" buying other products from this vendor.
