Just as with the health stuff. A poster will come on a thread about a certain ailment and sure enough, another poster will come on and tell in full detail, all of "their" ailments, including all the meds they take, their last CBC result, etc...... Sorry, but there's a Forum for that too.

but then what is this forum for?

sophiamarie, have you ever read some of the threads on the Health forum? Some of the doozies over there with information that is totally incorrect will really surprise you. And I agree, I try not opening some of the graphic posts about someone's latest ailment....not because I am not sympathetic but because it really isn't appropriate for Viewpoints. Keep it all over there.

Yes, and it's scary.
Yeah I have.

I think it's an interesting change and one that shows they're trying to listen to concerns. It might be a result of all the posts in the past asking for O/T threads to be moved to something closer to what's felt to be (I know, it's subjective) a more appropriate forum. (Just as examples, not saying I agree or disagree with them: some wanted all game threads moved to Gamers, all the long-standing "friends" threads given their own forum, that sort of thing.) It's going to be a judgment call for the moderators, though, and no matter what they do it's no going to please everyone. I, for one, find it gratifying to see they're trying to make changes and they're responding to our questions. Maybe it's a good start?

dooBdoo, I think they may finally be listening. Yes, it is a good start.

It doesn't seem to be for Views because those get axed quickly. That leaves us with everything else to "play" with.

Hi, SoftRainDrops! Well, we can hope, right? There's been so darned much bad news lately I'm determined to step away from negativity, remove my "complaints" hat, and adopt at least a wee bit of an optimistic attitude. Don't know how long it will last, though ...

I think this will be the demise of VP. There are what, 50 threads on this first page. Without even looking I'll bet that 45 of them can be re-routed to other forums. Combine this with the fact that whatever is truly for VP discussion is quickly poofed, then there's no need for this forum.
I think it comes down to the same statement: Be careful what you ask for.
I think the basis for VP is that pretty much the same group of posters have been here for a long time (with the addition of a few along the years) and they enjoy conversing with each other about anything and everything. And that's the way I think it should stay. JMO.
