How do you use the fat seperator you know when you want to make gravy, the one I bought has a litle stopper with it but it doesn't go down the spout very far.  What pray tell am I doing so wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong, that's the way it works. Put the stopper in, the lid on and pour the drippings in. You need to wait a few minutes. The fat will come to the top. Remove stopper and slowly pour the drippings out. Stop when you get to the fat.

there's also a you tube video.

You leave the plug in while you dump the liquid in.  Let it separate a minute and pull the stopper out and pour.
