OXFORD, ENGLAND, THEN AND NOW

EL8w6juWkAAMiQk.jpg large.jpeg

This image made me so happy, somehow.  Not everything alters to something unrecognizable, over time.

Still, ancient Oxford, home to the oldest university in the English speaking world, has come along way from that original oxen crossing prior to A.D. 1000!

@Oznell  I knew from the post title this would probably be your post.  Yes, it is interesting and somewhat comforting how little has changed.

Re: OXFORD, ENGLAND, THEN AND NOW

It is uplifting to see little change in a charming lovely place where there is so much history.

Sadly in this country often historical buildings are taken down to make way for condos and developments, strip malls and such.  I believe in preserving historical buildings and am thankful there are groups who fight to save our heritage.

Thanks for the pictures, Oznell, what a beautiful place Oxford was and still is!!!

@Oznell Thank you. I've been a devoted Anglophile since about age 10. I love Britain, the British Isles and all things connected.  Heart

Re: OXFORD, ENGLAND, THEN AND NOW

I've been watching 'Escape To The Country' on DABL TV.

Beautiful English countryside.  And surrounding areas.

Just yesterday, Buckinghamshire (beautiful area) was featured.

Cliffton House and Gardens, also, briefly.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
