I was here late yesterday-late. I had posted some information worthwhile but it never went through. These things often happen on many forums, so I will continue on from last evening. I send my deepest condolences learning about your mother-in-law. How very heavy this burden weighs with so many unexpected forces that takes us to a darker place.
With pneumonia settling in, is not an unusual secondary health issue, especially when the patient is not responding to just one antibiotic. I have no way to know if [they] have started Tommy on another family of antibiotics. Also, with Tommy lying down, the chances are more prevalent, but I do understand the staff has to be cautious since he just had back surgery side to side with the femur repair. I would ask if there was any breathing exercises being done or any respiratory treament being given. Have some one in charge ask questions- and what are the next steps? Since I am not reading back but remembering from 2 days ago, I believe he was to be sitting up? Is Tommy still in ICU or... in a floor room, at the hosptial?
I had asked last evening (when post did not go through) would it be possible for your sister to be there once more during this critical time? I know that your mother is certainly not able according to what you have said. I will check in again to ask whether Tommy has been put on a stronger antibiotic. Fluids are IV'd around the clock, I would certainly come to believe. It is very difficult when we get pieces of information what is going on.
I am no stranger when patients having either pneumonia or UTI, especially in this situation. I remember telling you this -'the antibiotics would be for any pneumonia that could occur'. I know you that the more stressors you have, the worse your back pain flares up. I will cut this short (time pending on these boards)and wait for any updates. I do hope that SISTER can make another trip as a spokesperson asking questions. is the caregiver coming in all of the time or leaving everything to the staff. I have no idea if he-she is a nurse or could be a spokesperson-asking, sending news back to you.
I continue with my daily prayers for Tommy, you and your husband, Yes, it has been some week for your family. Sending positive thoughts, through God, to you.
Do you know, at any time-(10 minutes) if anyone there was told of water in his lungs?
