Re: OPIONS, PLEASE! ESPECIALLY FROM TEACHERS

Is your daughter concerned about the schedule?

Re: OPIONS, PLEASE! ESPECIALLY FROM TEACHERS

My grandson is in 4 the grade.  That sounds normal for the end of the semester.   His teachers send home these schedules in advance so parents and students can plan ahead.  No excuse for not having time to do project or prepare for tests.    Youngsters that age seem to forget things until the last minute.  My son checks the backpack every night to make sure papers have not gotten lost in there.  There is homework every night and it should take less than 30 minutes.  That is fair for 4th grade.

Yes, she stresses easily.  And to be honest, it stresses me too.  She has her other homework on top of this and to top it off has to re-do invention project.  Her idea had to be signed off by teacher, she didn't like it/didn't think it would work, so gave her another idea to go with.

@ScrapHappy So don't keep us in suspense - what IS a "test structure test?"

Why aren't you asking the teacher? I don't see what the problem is because you did not point out your concern.

As  a former (mind reader), er, teacher, I think the OP is concerned that there is more than 1 test a day before the holidays.

Yeah, I was also wondering what the actual problem was, and why she started the thread.   It's customary to finish the semester by wrapping things up with quizzes and tests, so this shouldn't be a surprise.   Does anyone know what grade this child is in?

What type of invention is expected of kids?  If there is a genius among them parents and educators would already know this and have them on a fast track.

5th grade was tough when my daughter was in school.  They were pushing students to get ready for middle school.

Yes, there were tests like that and holidays didn't matter.  She had one teacher in beginning high school who always assigned projects over the holidays.

In 5th grade she had a minimum five hours of homework each night, they all did.  It was grueling.

Normal. They are preparing the kids for 6th grade; middle school is NOTHING like elementary and worlds apart from when most of us went to school.

Re: OPIONS, PLEASE! ESPECIALLY FROM TEACHERS

It is a lot of work and tests but yes, probably the norm since it's the end of semester. And, you've surely seen same types of tests all year. Hopefully. At least she will get her winter break soon and can enjoy.

She's preparing for her future and it just doesn't get easier. I never knew I'd have to go back through school yet again when my children were young! Good luck.
