I'm totally freaking out by this story.....Do you live on the lake? Is your house older? I'm trying to think of reasons why this would NEVER happen to me. What can you tell me? This is truly horrible!!!

4 year old house on a lake. They are clearing a former horse ranch right next to our plan to build homes so we are getting a higher amount than normal of wild critters. Poor things are being displaced. We are only about a mile from a state forest and I guess the expectation is these creatures will sooner or later find their way to the forest. In the meanwhile we have to be very careful to keep things closed up tight, as all sort of things are wandering around looking for food and a place to go.

I had a neighbor that once got a snake in her bathroom and she said if you flush it, it could come back up the toilet?
I have also heard of people getting frogs in their sinks and toilets down here. imagine how shocked my DH was when he pulled it out and it was alive.

Doesn't bear thinking about what the snake was living on....was it commuting to outside from the drain? It might be worth checking that there are no reentry points, as they are territorial.
I wish the racer snakes that used to live in my yard were still there. In South Florida, when the snakes leave, the rats take over and I have an on and off problem with them getting into my attic. I heard one chirping up there the other night, I think. They tend to invade during the first cold snaps around Christmastime.

How long can a snake live in a drain? I doubt they can live without food for months and months.

Glad I've got a bobcat instead of a snake. It can't hide in my pipes. YUK!!!!
