I am on the quarantine side of the argument, although I think they should be treated better (if the allegations are true that she is hungry and or cold) while under quarantine.
I think the treatment of those under quarantine would determine whether or not dr.'s go to the frontline and help or not, and also it would keep those who have been exposed from lying about their exposure upon re-entry into this country.
21 days is not that long -- if treated well--considering the cost of infecting others...

It seems odd to me that these drs and nurses are willing to go into a disease ridden area, risk their lives, see the conditions of how the people there live, be away from their families for all that time and then come home and complain about a 21 day quarantine. I mean, I give them all the credit in the world for going over there and the good deed they are doing but why complain about something that seems so small as a 21 day quarantine given what has happened and what they have experienced over there treating ebola?

I'll bet it does seem odd to you that a care giver is complaining about being thrown into a jail-like situation without even proper food or the shower even serial killers are afforded.

However, neither governor consulted with medical experts and IMO, this was a knee jerk reaction. Agree it will change as time goes on, probably after Nov 4.On 10/26/2014 GrettaGarbled said:On 10/26/2014 MomTo2Dogs said:On 10/26/2014 adelle38 said:On 10/26/2014 ktlynam said:Drama Queen.
An embarrassment to her profession.
Why? Because she believes in following medical guidelines not public opinion?
But aren't public health professionals supposed to serve the community?
</ Yes. They follow scientific, medically proven protocol, which in this case is different from public opinion.
Like it or not they have to listen to public opinion. They cannot be the source of fear. As time goes by I'm sure quarantine guidelines will change along with the public's perception of Ebola but for now it is what it is.

I gave facts. I totally understand why you wouldn't recognize a fact if you tripped over one.

Look at the havoc ONE ebola infected dr that came back into this country and broke his own self-quarantine pledge has caused. I'm sorry but this is just the way it has to be. I'm glad these two govs decided this. They are doing what needs to be done and what the federal govt will not do.

But trying to educate a public with many that don't even believe in climate change seems like a losing proposition.
The quarantine is the responsible thing to do BECAUSE of the irrational public fears...and how it can affect the economy of a city, state or our country.
The quarantine needs to take place in positive, restful, inviting places...NOT a tent with a latrine and no shower facilities.
Maybe when many medical workers come back and the majority do NOT contract ebola, the public will realize that their fears were overblown. But until that happens, the quarantine is prudent for economic and psychological reasons, IMO.

So many ignorant people making public health decisions -- base on fear, ignorance but not science.
