Re: Nurse Nina Pham suing Texas hospital

And as I mentioned upthread...does Dr. Kent Brantley & other Doctors Without Borders lady have these same issues? And didn't they return to Africa to continue to fight the cause?

That's correct, but there had to have been a period of time when where these nurses where taking care of a 'deathly ill' patient of unknown origins....that might have been the time they contracted it.

No. They knew he had Ebola and volunteered to care for him. It was never NOT known by these two nurses.

I think I heard that the first nurse that contracted Ebola - I don't know if she worked with Dr. Brantley or not - went back to Africa for a second time just recently.

Yes. Remember how she fought being isolated? She didn't have symptoms so she thought she should be running around town freely. She was extremely obnoxious about it and finally wound up in New England somewhere.

I am going to google it and remind myself of exactly what happened.

I thought you meant the other nurse that Nina Pham worked with. She flew to Detroit to shop for wedding dresses.

I know who you're talking about now. I forget her name. She wound up in Maine with her boyfriend and went bike riding.

Dallas Morning News interview says:

Pham said that while she did not volunteer to care for Duncan, she felt that she couldn’t say no.

I would guess there was a short period of time when they were cleaning up vomit/urine/feces that they didn't know what they were dealing with. Didn't they have to wait for lab results? Or the first time they met Mr. Duncan, those nurses had full 'hazmat' uniforms on?

She did KNOW he had Ebola from the get go though.

Re: Nurse Nina Pham suing Texas hospital

Wait a minute - this lawsuit isn't just about the lack of controls, which were clearly missing at this hospital.

Nina worked in ICU; the hospital placed Duncan in the ICU because they didn't know where else to place him. Nina was on her rotation shift and told she would be able to care for him "remotely" - and that turned out not to be true. She DID NOT VOLUNTEER to take care of Duncan.

The precautions were "GOOGLED" and handed out to her.

The full lawsuit is online, btw. There is much more to this lawsuit.

She deserves compensation for what she went through. Those who think it's about $$ and $$ only and worry about who will pay - pffft. I can't imagine being told I tested positive for such a devastating illness.

I don't think she knew from the "get go". They suspected he has positive, but had to wait for test results.
