I say that everyday and mean it.
That is great for you but if you ask a person of color how their life was and how they were treated through history, including the 50's and 60's, you would most likely get a far different answer.
Not everyone had wonderful, rosy, happy memories of that era.
@Mersha Please - Don't be so fast to jump to conclusions. That I had rosy happy memories of that era.
I was bussed out of my neighborhood into a 62% person of color and 16.5% white neighborhood to attend public school. I was bussed from Grade 1 to Grade 6. It added over 2 hours to my school day, to be bussed.
I had been attacked and thrown face first on to the cement curb. And had my head smashed in. Another time I lost part of my 3 front teeth. And had my kidney damaged from being kicked. I was surrounded by 5 boys as they tried to rob me. I had been sexually assaulted numerous times. The list goes on and on.
I still am glad I am old.

Then was great if you were a white heterosexual Anglo-Saxon protestant male. Everyone else? Some of what we take for granted as “wrong” was legal.
And don’t even think about being disabled.
We’re not talking about a small segment of the population who had “challenges”.
@bikerbabe @But we got to grow up and see the changes for the better, even if only by baby steps. I watched the beginning of opportunists for minorities and women and I've watched opportunities grow and keep growing. It's still a long way from perfect, but we were there to see an evolution towards a better way of treatment over time, and we're still here watching some of this continue. If I was born today, I would have missed the struggles so many endured to improve conditions and to change the mindset of many toward inclusiveness. I feel seeing the changes over time gives me an appreciation of the terrible treatment of so many and at least see some improvement for many. Those born today miss s lot of the struggle and take a lot for granted.

They younger generation today cant seem to wrap their heads around the fact that we didnt have the technology that they have . They dont believe at midnight the star spangled banner would play and the TV would go off . Banks would only be open from 10 till 3 etc
So would you choose now or then?
@aj1980 Then. Definitely when I was because what I've lived through helped me become who I am and I am very much blessed.
What younger people are living through and learning now is a one-sided agenda and freedoms are being removed. They are not learning to debate or live with those who have differing opinions. They are being taught to hate. And so much more. They will never know what hit them...
Children being taught to hate, you say🙄
